Peter G. Engle, PE, of Almost Home, Inc. in Rumson, NJ has been awarded the
2005 John E. Cox Member of the Year Award from the American Society of Home
Inspectors (ASHI) for outstanding service to the Garden State Chapter of
ASHI. The award is one of the highest awards presented in the home inspection
profession. The award was presented by the Society in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, during
the group's recent Annual Business Meeting and Awards Ceremony held in
conjunction with InspectionWorld 2006, the annual conference of professional
home inspectors.
Established in 1990, the Cox Award honors individuals who have made exemplary
contributions to their chapter. The recipient must be an ASHI Member who has
rendered outstanding service to his or her ASHI Chapter, either over a period
of years or under special circumstances. The Cox Award recipient is nominated
by his or her chapter, and selected by ASHI's Council of Representatives.
"Pete's unselfish devotion to his chapter and more importantly to the home
inspection profession, is the strength he brings to our chapter," said Garden
State ASHI Chapter President Ernie Borsellino. "He continues today to seek a
better future for the home inspection profession, he believes in and promotes
the principals of ASHI, and he has proven this with his total commitment to
the Society."
Engle has been a member of ASHI since 1995 holding both national and local
positions. He is currently the Chair of the Ethics and Professional
Practices complaints committee. According to Engle, "I hope to continue
applying my knowledge and experience in serving ASHI and the home inspection
profession at large. In New Jersey, we are working very hard to promote the
very highest technical and ethical standards for home inspector licensing. I
am also looking forward to helping the Society promote its industry-leading
standards and ethics guidelines on a national level."
